About Western Red Cedar

Why cedar?

Cedar is naturally rot-resistant and insect-repellent, making it ideal for outdoor planters. Untreated, it weathers to a beautiful silver-gray patina over time. I treat the inside of every planter with tung oil for extra longevity, and the outside with a UV-resistant stain. You can reapply the finish to maintain the appearance, or let the cedar age into its natural silver patina.

Care instructions

Your cedar planter requires no special treatment. Each planter is designed to let water flow naturally through the drainage slats. Brush a layer of tung oil over the wood as part of your seasonal winterizing routine for maximum longevity.
